Maybe the reprinting of this book is timely. As the debate hots up between the advocates and critics of our rapidly transforming youth work, it will be potentially a resource for both sides, but more so - I suspect - for the critics. It is a collection of 20 chapters originally produced during a process of revising the YMCA George Williams College's distance-learning course in informal and community education. I was involved in the delivery of that course for some years and can testify to its challenging course materials, so I am pleased that some of this material can be shared.
