Resources: Review - The dynamics of domestic violence

1 min read
This book is aimed at family law, child protection and welfare practitioners.

It is particularly topical as domestic violence and its impact onchildren and young people is slowly increasing.

This is demonstrated both through legislation, for example in Section120 of the Adoption & Children Act 2002, and in practice, for instancethrough the Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006 guidance.

Similarly, recent reports, such as the one published by Lord JusticeWall in March 2006 in response to 29 Child Homicides, which was producedby Women's Aid in 2004, look at the effectiveness of the family courtsin relation to violence in the home. In fact, there is no evidence thatdomestic violence is diminishing, and a joint Unicef and Body Shopreport published last August estimates that it affects nearly a millionUK children.
