Resources: Review - The complex issue of child sex abuse

1 min read
My first reaction to The Seduction of Children was that the title did not relate to the content of the book and it might put off potential readers.

However, I found that it did contain a lot of useful information.

The book covers a lot of ground, ranging from international commercial sexual exploitation of children to abuse via the internet. Throughout the book, there are checklists that highlight important information about what to look out for and what to do. I felt that these were really useful and gave appropriate and current information, which could be easily accessed.

The information in the book is generally of good quality. The introduction contains a section on the myths and realities of sexual abuse, which equips parents and teachers to deal with these issues. The chapters that look at children's sexual development, grooming and how parents and teachers might protect children from abuse also have good quality information in them.
