The book has emerged from The National Youth Agency's Partners in Innovation Programme, which seeks to encourage and spread innovative and developmental youth work. Some of the activities, particularly the icebreakers, will be very familiar to the experienced youth worker. But there are also some challenging activities that don't shy away from difficult topics, such as "On the far side of revenge", which engages with the fact that many world religious traditions have been associated with violence by exploring non-violent approaches to conflict.
The book is written in such a way as to be useful to both new and experienced practitioners. For those unfamiliar with working in this sort of area, there is a short introductory guide giving some principles for inter-faith work. Each activity is clearly laid out, giving aims, length, group size, resources and clear instructions for running the exercise. There are diagrams and photocopiable resources where they are needed.
