Schlosser has used the material from his bestseller Fast Food Nation and adapted it for this version aimed at younger readers. It's a comprehensive look at the fast-food industry and what it serves us, how it recruits us, how it retains us, and how it exploits us and those who produce its raw materials.
Its style is a relentless parade of vivid facts, figures and stories that are pure gold for youth club discussions on issues from food to health to economics. It's a shame this British edition isn't more, well, British, but then again this is increasingly a global issue.
