I was overwhelmed, pleasantly, by the exhaustive exploration of family themes covered here: discipline and positive parenting; family rules, rewards and penalties; self-esteem and personal power; feelings and communication; child development; problem solving and negotiation; emotional health and more.
It's based on an American model and that's no bad thing. After all, perhaps the best book on parenting so far - How To Talk So Kids Will Listen And Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish - came from the US. I never thought I'd find a book I could recommend as highly, but this comes close. Author Candida Hunt manages to help parents face up to mistakes and problems without making them feel judged.
