Money-go-round CD-Rom Published by The Basic Skills Agency Price 10

Money-go-round is an interactive CD-Rom produced by The Basic Skills Agency to support the teaching of financial capability skills to young people. It aims to help learners become more confident when budgeting, planning and spending, as well as sorting out money problems and seeking financial advice. It is mapped to Entry 3/Level 1 of the Adult Numeracy and Literacy Core Curricula, to the National Curriculum Level Descriptors for levels 3, 4 and 5, and to the Basic and Developing Levels of the Adult Financial Capability Framework.

It can be used in a number of ways to help young people develop their financial capability. When you start the CD-Rom, you can choose to work through a range of topics such as Using a bank, Buying goods and services, and Budgeting, all of which contain a range of skills development activities from learning new vocabulary, working out percentages and interest, to basic planning and problem-solving activities. Perhaps most usefully for those working with young people, the start menu also offers a quiz to test current knowledge and skills levels, where learners or tutors can record the activities that need further development. There are also a number of small "projects" such as planning a party or a holiday that can be developed into whole class or group activities.
