1. Former England international footballer Paul Scholes of Manchester United is having a flu jab this winter. He has asthma and is supporting the Department of Health's campaign to persuade others with chronic illnesses to get this year's vaccination against the flu virus. The thinking is that when those who suffer from a chronic illness such as asthma or diabetes catch flu, there is a higher likelihood that it will lead to a more serious illness. So high-risk groups are being advised to contact their GP for a free jab.
