Eating Well at School: Nutritional and Practical Guidelines

This guidance is an updated version of the Caroline Walker Trust'sstandards for school meals, which were first published in 1992. Theguidance attempts to give a set of standards that can be followed toimprove nutritional quality. These standards are summarised through aseries of tables. It also breaks down the recommendations by age, sexand time of day as well as suggesting good sources of nutrients.

Children at the Heart: Vision Into Action

Quality children's services are a regular theme for the Improvement andDevelopment Agency's Beacon Scheme, which picks out the best examples oflocal government. This report provides an insight into what it takes tobecome a beacon council, concentrating on integrated children'sservices. It looks at the four councils that achieved beacon status andconcludes with suggestions for what others could do to providetop-quality services.
