This new web site has been launched as part of Foster Care Fortnight for people considering fostering in Lancashire. The web site, designed and hosted by Lancashire Council's social services department, contains a range of useful information and advice for potential carers. More than 900 children are in foster care in the county, with the council supporting around 600 of them.

THE PRACTICAL PRE-SCHOOL EARLY YEARS HANDBOOK

This is a comprehensive guide to the foundation stage of education and associated services. The updated and extended 2004 version claims to be the only single source of information on relevant contacts. New chapters include details of the recently established Children Come First childminding networks, which provide support and training for individual childminders and neighbourhood nurseries. And another new chapter includes details of neighbourhood nurseries.
