It has four rounds each year and the theme for spring 2007 is "Working to reduce sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in young people aged 11 to 25". For this it has teamed up with sexual health organisation Brook, which has helped develop guidelines and will assist with selecting shortlisted projects.
What will it fund? The programme is seeking to support projects that find new and creative ways of providing information about risks of STIs, that give young people the tools to make informed choices regarding sexual health and that have input from young people themselves. Projects should promote a positive approach to sex and relationships and be able to demonstrate the impact of this approach on preventing infection. They should also promote the "Double Dutch" approach of using both condoms and other contraception. Money can cover pilot projects, salaries, running costs, management costs and evaluation and dissemination expenses. The work must have the potential to influence others on a wider scale.
