The Jack Petchey Foundation has stumped up 1m to help The Marine Society & Sea Cadets build a training ship for young people.

An arts project to help improve the self-esteem of young GypsyTravellers in Cheshire has been given 20,500 by Arts CouncilEngland. The Gypsy Traveller Arts Project will use the cash foractivities such as jewellery making.

Royal Mail staff will turn the grounds of the Northern IrelandChildren's Hospice into a wildlife area for children and families thanksto a 9,819 grant from the Lottery's BBC-led Breathing Placesfund.

Children's befriending projects in Scotland are to receive more supportfollowing a 445,619 Big Lottery Fund grant to the BefriendingNetwork. It will pay for training and advice for projects.
