
Ongoing concerns about mental health services for young people have taken on fresh impetus following calls by the UK's chief medical officer for improvements to be made in the area.
Among recommendations for children and young people's health in her annual report, Dame Sally Davies calls for more "investment and focus" on children and young people's mental health. The report states that action is needed to build resilience at a young age, as well as intervening effectively when problems develop.
In terms of early intervention, she is keen that the government puts strategies in place to enable young people to develop resilience so they can successfully respond to life's challenges.
