The grant of 24,000 will help towards a skatepark in Littlemoor Estate.
This has come out of an idea conceived by young people who have set up the Littlemoor Fun Seekers group.
Kris Hallett, secretary for the Fun Seekers, became involved after reading about the Littlemoor group in the local paper.
Hallett said: "We are working in partnership with the council, the youth service and the community to use the funds to build a fenced-in skatepark with a landscaped area near the estate."
The group raised an additional 10,000 and is looking for further money towards landscaping costs.
The Living Spaces scheme provides advice and support as well as grants to community groups that want to improve their environment (YPN, 16-22 July, p12).
