A Girlguiding UK survey last week revealed that 82 per cent of young women believe smoking is the top health concern for their generation.

Moreover, around half of survey respondents believe young women are taking up smoking because of peer pressure relating to issues such as physical appearance.

22% of 16- to 19-year-olds smoke
40% of smokers start before they are 16
50% of long-term smokers will die of cancer and other smoking-related diseases
