Quick guide to ... Dyspraxia

1 min read Health
Dyspraxia is a neurological condition that impairs movement, leading to some children with it being regarded as just clumsy.

- With dyspraxia, the way the brain processes information is immature, which means messages aren't fully transmitted. It can affect any area of development, but is particularly associated with thought, perception and language

- Earlier this month it emerged that researchers at the University of Leeds are developing a high-tech robotic arm that can be used at home by children with dyspraxia to improve hand co-ordination

- The symptoms of dyspraxia usually exist from an early age, but it is not always picked up until a child is a little older. If not identified, it can have a great impact on a child, particularly when at school
