Developmental dysplasia of the hip, or DDH, describes a variety of conditions in which the ball and socket of the hip do not develop properly in babies. When diagnosed and treated early, the outcome is usually excellent. Last week charity Steps said parents and health professionals should be doing more to check babies' hips in their first few weeks of life to prevent pain and permanent disability
