Public consultation on proposals for the next cycle of Estyn inspections 2010-2016.

Education
Education inspectorate Estyn is consulting on proposed changes to the way education providers in Wales are inspected. The feedback will be used to design a new inspection framework.

More proportionate inspection is a key proposal - Estyn says it wants to introduce "substantially shorter" inspections for all providers. Enhanced levels of follow-up inspections would then be carried our for providers who were found to be under-performing in the initial inspections.

The watchdog also plans to streamline inspection grades by reducing the long list of criteria in the current inspection framework. The new framework will feature two summary judgements - an overall judgement on the provider and a judgement of the provider's capacity to improve.

Closing date: 14 April.
