Prostitution: Collective calls for under-18 protection

Consultation on the proposals, including the decriminalising of brothels, ends on 26 November.

Terri Dowty, policy director for Action on Rights for Children, which is working with the collective, said: "We put an amendment to the sexual offences bill, which was rejected. The Sexual Offences Act protects children, but child prostitutes aren't decriminalised."

The Home Office recognised that children involved in prostitution are abused, but said it wants to preserve the legal option as a "last resort" for young people who "continually return to the streets".
