Goals: To engage young men who are already fathers, or considered at risk of becoming a father, so they become more aware and take responsibility for family planning and parenting
Funding: Receives a voluntary youth organisation grant from the Department for Education and Skills, and additional funding from trusts
To make young fathers aware that parenting isn't just about mothers looking after children, UK Youth is piloting a series of programmes to encourage them to think about their responsibilities and become more involved as parents.
The six programmes, which run until September, have been set up in partnership with local groups that collaborate with agencies such as YMCA Partnerships in Prisons, WILD Young Parents Project in Cornwall and Hindley Young Offenders' Institution.
