Funding: Receives 17,000 from the European Social Fund plus match funding from schools and colleges that the project works with

Getting young people who have fallen out of, or are struggling with, the school system back into education or training is no mean feat. So Motiv8's 72 per cent success rate in Walsall is an impressive achievement.

The Groundwork West Midlands project works with teenagers who face a wide range of problems. Angela Edwards, senior youth development worker at Motiv8 in Walsall, says: "They might not attend school, but not all truant. Some are excluded from school, others could need a break from attending because of a death in the family."
