The organisation is to contact both youth offending teams and schools about its helpline, which was recently awarded 380,000 by the Community Fund.
The helpline will offer advice on prisoner transfers, visiting prisoners and telling the family. It will be run by five independent services in areas such as Manchester and London.
Lucy Keenan, helpline co-ordinator at Action for Priso-ners' Families, said: "There are a lot of siblings affected by this. It can be very confusing."
Separately, the Howard League for Penal Reform is launching a legal helpline for juveniles in prison. The helpline, set to launch after May, was set up after the creation of a legal department at the organisation, which works with young prisoners and helps youth workers.
