Prevention: Nacro must boost links with employers, says inspection

In a report released last week, the education inspector gave all aspects of Nacro that were examined a level-three response, meaning they were satisfactory. The grading ranges from one for outstanding to four for inadequate.

The charity's Entry to Employment (e2e) programme, which aims to help 16- to 18-year-olds gain work, and its Apprenticeship schemes were examined on 28 June. The report found that performance on the e2e scheme was "slowly improving" since the last inspection in 2002, but said that target setting and the recording of progress on the programme was "inadequate". However, it said that personal support offered to those on the scheme was good quality.
