The Chancellor's pre-budget report, published in December, commits theGovernment to significantly increasing the amount of money given toschools.
Many children's campaigners believe the Chancellor should have insistedthat schools spend some of the money on developing extendedservices.
Anne Longfield, chief executive of 4Children, said: "This money shouldbe used to help turn schools into community centres for children of allages."
But teaching unions insisted schools should be free to spend the moneyas they wish. Chris Keates, general secretary of NASUWT, said: "Theinjection of additional funds must have no strings attached."
