Some of the activities on offer involve young people at their heart, including CSV's Lending Time, which is piloting ways to engage the community in six local authority pilot projects and is set to roll out to more, following an evaluation issued last week that judges them a success.
In south London, library-based volunteers joined with the youth service and a volunteer from CSV's Journalist Network to produce the Merton Sense youth magazine (YPN, 8-14 October, p12).
As part of their out of school citizenship activity, young people tutored senior citizens, refugees and asylum seekers in basic computer access skills, increasing understanding and building relationships between generations and cultures in the process.
