The Early Years Foundation Stage guidance outlines standards for thedevelopment, learning and care of pre-school children.
It replaces Birth To Three Matters, the foundation stage curriculum forthree- and four-year-olds and national standards for daycare.
The guidance outlines goals children will be assessed against andincludes examples of good practice. All registered early years providersand schools will be required to use the guidance from September2008.
Children will work towards developing concentration, dressing andhygiene, basic reading, writing, speech and numeracy skills along withpersonal and emotional development.
