The ultimate aim is to forge a unified body capable of deliveringjoined-up children's services. With almost 200,000 children's workersneeded to deliver children's centres in the medium term alone, andaround a million or so employees working in or around extended schoolsover the next five years, the scale of the undertaking is clear.
Meeting these challenges will require strategic vision, leadership and adetermination to deliver. The children's workforce is highly complex.Workers vary in the environments in which they work, in qualificationsand pay and also in their motivation for being involved. However, aframework does need to be in place that can be recognised by all thoseinvolved.
