Early intervention is at the core of the Every Child Mattersapproach.
Yet for many children, issues around their emotional health andwellbeing often go unnoticed and overlooked. The quiet and withdrawnchild may not grab the attention of the busy teacher or playworker. Butincreasing evidence shows that support and intervention at this stagecan have a powerful effect on preventing extreme behaviour in thefuture.
Part of a network of interventions covering England, Wales and NorthernIreland, the Pyramid Project in Merthyr Tydfil aims to ensure childrenaged five to 12 get the support they need. Run by local voluntary agencySafer Merthyr Tydfil, the project offers support through a 10-weekout-of-school programme.
