THE DILEMMA

What action would you take if you discovered eight of your pupils had sexually assaulted two girls? A head teacher tells PJ White what she did, even though the local authority and police seemed to want her to ignore the problem.

I came to school one day and saw a boy's face covered in scratches.

He said there had been a fight and it became clear something of a sexually abusive nature had happened.

It emerged that, the previous evening, one girl was held down while a boy urinated on her face. Another tried to put his penis in her mouth.

Then they held down another girl and tried the same. She fought back, causing the scratches. Eight boys aged 10 were involved.
