So is this from the children's commissioner? No, no, no. This is from the children's rights director for England, who is linked to the Commission for Social Care Inspection. One of his main jobs is to talk to young people about how they are "looked after" - whether in children's homes, foster care, adoption placements or other residential special schools, colleges or family centres. Oh, and care-leavers too. This report contains 50 key messages from children and young people to inform the Government's review of national minimum standards in care.

And how did they collect these messages? Through their regular information collection, plus a programme of special visits and consultation days and, this being 2006, a survey texted to young people.
