So more banging on about alcohol.
Well, yes. You may feel you don't really need to read this report to find out that heavy drinking when younger links to offending, disorderly behaviour, sexual activity, adverse effects on school achievement including truancy and exclusion, and health problems including cirrhosis as early as late twenties. All those statistics are rehearsed here - several times.
Is it all bad news? No. For a start, while zealots and puritans might beg to differ, alcohol consumption is not all bad. It seems almost too obvious to state but it is a source of great enjoyment to many people, and this report acknowledges that. It is also linked to the employment of more than one million in the hospitality industry and to the regeneration of city centres across the land.
