So we're not going to go back to class B then? No. But we can expect to see a stepping up of information targeted at young people warning of the specific dangers of using cannabis.

But what about all this industrial grade skunk that is sending our kids doolally? The experts are saying the scare stories are a few facts short of front page lead. To recap, an Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs report in 2002 was the first step leading to the reclassification of cannabis from a class B drug to class C in January 2004. Reports since have suggested the level of the psychoactive ingredient THC has gone through the roof and also that there is evidence of a link between cannabis and mental illness. The Home Secretary asked the council to have a look at whether the Government should take a step back.
