An important part of the proposal is the move to create a common core of skills and knowledge for everyone who works with children and young people. This guidance starts to put flesh on the bones of what the Government wants to see included in training for all professionals.
So what's in it then? There are six overlapping areas of expertise: effective communication and engagement; child and young person development; safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child; supporting transitions; multi-agency working; and sharing information.
