Policy: Charities unite in 'respect' debate

Chief executives from leading children's charities have written to the Prime Minister to try and influence the 'respect' debate.

Tony Blair said the need for more respect was a key lesson from the election campaign. He has pledged to create a "culture of respect" and put tackling crime and disorder at the heart of his third-term agenda.

The letter is private as the charities push to start a dialogue with the Prime Minister.

Last week the National Youth Agency challenged the Government to show more respect for young people (Children Now, 8-14 June).
