Play: Playgrounds must look to nature

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents will tomorrow (14 June) call for playgrounds to be inspired by the natural world.

David Yearly, head of play safety at the society, will tell tomorrow'sInternational Play Safety conference that children have an affinity forthe natural environment and can learn much by interacting with it.

He will tell delegates: "By looking at ways of incorporating naturalelements into equipped play spaces, we can ensure that even childrenliving in urban areas have the opportunity to benefit from theexperience."
