Participation: UK Youth Parliament finalises 2004 manifesto

1 min read

The manifesto, entitled Every Young Person Matters, is the result of discussions with most of the parliament's members at its fourth annual sitting in July and outlines what they believe the Government should do to improve life for young people.

It will be presented to youth minister Margaret Hodge next month and circulated across government departments.

A significant development from last year's manifesto is the parliament's strong criticism of antisocial behaviour orders, which are described as "discriminative and problematic".

The document criticises the orders for targeting young people unfairly and breaching their human rights. It also demands the right of anonymity for young people who breach their orders.
