PARTICIPATION: Southwark launches youth initiative

The Strategy on Children and Young People's Participation was developed to fall in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It has resulted in the setting up of the Children & Young People's Strategic Partnership Board in the south London borough with the aim of encouraging participation in local issues by children and young people.

The recommendations on how to increase participation include establishing a young people's consortium in Southwark, specifically targeting hard-to-reach groups such as minority and traveller children, the disabled, refugees, street gangs, young offenders, those in care and leaving care.
