Britain's biggest police force, the Metropolitan Police, has drafted in young people to help its review of stop-and-search powers.
A delegation of UK Youth Parliament members and representatives of the Met's youth advisory group attended a meeting at Scotland Yard last week, after officers in charge of the review realised young people's views had been overlooked.
Met youth advisory board member Saad Butt, 17, said stop and search could cause a vicious circle of hostility.
The young people suggested the use of the catchphrase SMART (smile, manner, attitude, respect and talk). The review process is expected to be completed by the summer.
