Ray has had the kind of life not many of us would envy. He's been shot twice, stabbed in the lung, and had his face cut open from cheekbone to jaw. Now he's in Wandsworth prison, in south London, with a hefty sentence for drug-related crimes.
But Ray is also a father, with three sons - aged 24, 14 and eight - and a stepdaughter of 18. He realises the unhappiness he's caused them, so he's signed up for a five-week course called Fathers Inside, which helps prisoners become better parents. "When I started the course I wasn't convinced," he says. "To be honest, a lot of people do things like this just to get out of their cells. But I've begun to realise it's really good.
