PARENTING: De Montfort to run foundation degree

De Montfort University is introducing a foundation degree course in families, parenting and community.

The course, which will be run in partnership with Leicester and Grantham Colleges, aims to attract people excluded from other forms of education.

The first students are expected to start in April and health visitors in Leicester have already identified parents they think would benefit.

Unlike most foundation degrees, students do not need an A-level to be accepted.

Modules will include working with families, psychology and child development.

Successful students will be able to boost their qualification by progressing directly on to the final year of the BA (Hons) health studies degree.
