The group, from Stony Stratford Baptist Church, came up with the idea of running an overseas social action project two years ago, but it has only recently been able to act on the plans.
Mike Kelcey, a youth worker on the project, said he eventually decided to work with Smile International, a charity based in Kent. "I got in touch with them and sorted out policies, talked about our needs, then put it out to the young people," he said.
A group of 12 young people, aged between 15 and 19, and four leaders will go on the week-long visit in July. The project will cost 10,000, but the group has already raised 7,500.
