What does Outward Bound do?
Outward Bound is a charity that provides opportunities for young people to experience a range of outdoor activities. It has catered for more than one million people, including many schoolchildren who attend its adventure holidays and summer camps. The courses are designed to encourage teamwork and build self-confidence.
Where is it based?
There are five Outward Bound centres. They are based in the Lake District, Scotland and Wales. The head office is in Penrith, but fundraising is co-ordinated from London. There are also 22 regional associations run by volunteers, which help raise funds and send young people on courses.
