Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, gave his view that more police officers on the street are needed.

Guess what Simon Hughes, MP for Southwark, North and Bermondsey thought we needed more of? You got it. Youth and community workers. What a sweetie.

Also, an honourable mention for Matthew Green, MP for Ludlow, who observed: "It is a shame that the Government cannot fund activities for young people on the basis that they are good for them, rather than regarding them as a means of cutting crime."

Slightly paternalistic there, Matty. Try to think of activities for young people as their right, not a welfare provision. But jolly good try.
