The four had pleaded guilty to what Judge Jonathan Teare called the worst case of racially aggravated assault he had ever seen. "It was a sustained, prolonged, merciless attack for 10 minutes, accompanied by grossly racist comments," he added.
Senior was punched and repeatedly struck with a pool cue. He was dragged by his Rastafarian dreadlocks. A dreadlock was torn off. His attackers danced around the pub with it.
After the hearing, Senior said he was happy with the comments made by the judge.
At that point it seemed reasonable to assume that he would be able to get on with his life. The Nottingham Evening Post suggested that watching his attackers being sentenced for "such a heinous crime" could have offered some comfort.
