Opinion: If I were in charge of the environment - Leanne Marlow,12, south London

If I was in charge of the environment I would ban aerosols and I'd stop people using cars for short journeys. I would work to stop the greenhouse effect and I would make sure there were no chemicals put into growing plants and stuff and make sure people recycled everything that is recyclable.

Everyone should recycle and compost fruit and vegetables and grow theirown food. You can't make people do it - but it's your planet so youshould help. It's really important and it makes you feel good.

I wrote to Prince Charles to ask for help on how to improve our schoolgarden. He invited my school's allotment club to visit his garden atHighgrove.

It was really nice. Part of it was a normal garden and part of it was awild garden with wild flowers. My teacher Mrs Jones makes chutney and heasked her if she could send him some.

I won an award for being green last year because of the work I have doneon my school's allotment. I helped develop a mini-orchard and I likebreeding butterflies and bird watching.
