Opinion: Hot Issue - Will drinks labelling reduce youth binge drinking?

1 min read

YES - CAROLINE FLINT, public health minister, Department of Health

This landmark, voluntary agreement will help people calculate how much they are drinking and whether they are staying within sensible drinking guidelines. We want to make it simple for people to keep an eye on how much they are drinking and help them take responsibility for lessening the impact excess alcohol can have on their health. Unit information combined with sensible drinking guidelines on labels will make it simpler for people to calculate how many units they are drinking.

NO - MARK HASTINGS, director of communications, British Beer and Pub Association
