YES - Rosie Chadwick, director of information, Crime Concern
Crime Concern is totally behind any initiative that encourages young people to play an active role in their community.
A recent survey showed that about half of young people do not report the crimes committed against them. This suggests that, as a society, we have to get much closer to youth culture. By not doing anything to protect victims, we are condoning youth crime, colluding with it and storing up problems for the future.
The lessons that we have to get across to young people are "don't put up with it", "don't let young offenders get away with it" and "assert your right to live your lives free from the threat of crime and intimidation".
