STOPPING RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM

I agree with the Hounslow Council study that concluded that extended schools have a critical role to play in the prevention of religious extremism (CYP Now, 28 November-4 December).

The pursuit of engaging and inclusive activities that seek to celebrate all cultures is an effective measure in helping to break down barriers and prevent racism. As a national provider of extended schools childcare, we place high emphasis on religious tolerance and celebrate a vast range of multicultural and religious festivals.

As an example, this month we published our multicultural calendar to raise awareness of and an interest in, significant multicultural days and festivals. Children from different ethnic backgrounds and communities were encouraged to celebrate their chosen multicultural event and submitted photographs of their creative interpretations for inclusion in the calendar.
