Aim To create a tailor-made offending programme for girls
Girls convicted of crimes in Hertfordshire are being helped to turn their lives around thanks to a specially targeted programme.
The tailor-made initiative tackles problems such as alcohol use, relationship conflict and peer pressure, issues often at the root of offending associated with young women.
Sessions feature a series of workshops offering the young women the opportunity to take part in discussions and role-plays.
The eight-week programme is a county-wide scheme based in Hatfield, made available to girls who are serving community sentences. It gives the young women a chance to engage with youth offending team (YOT) workers and address the problems that led to them committing crimes.
