NYA: Stories of the World inspires young to delve into the past

1 min read
A new publication from the National Youth Agency and Museums, Libraries and Archives explores Stories of the World - a unique and exciting project that uses the Hear by Right participation framework to inspire museums to work with young people to delve deeper into the past.

The book focuses on five projects in Bolton, Northern Ireland, London, Bradford and Glasgow, where young people have used their imagination to design and develop their own series of exhibitions. As well as being involved in the development process from display, design and interpretation, the young people have also played a role in marketing, promotion and front of house.

Stories of the World is the largest ever youth participation initiative run by museums. Some 1,500 young people, representing a diverse range of groups, have been recruited and received training, skills development and accreditation along the way. The finale of the programme will be a network of major exhibitions, leaving a legacy of youth participation across the UK.
